Boat Insurance Survey FAQs
Common questions about surveys for boat insurance applications and renewals.
Why has my insurer requested a boat survey?
An insurer may request a survey to understand your boat’s condition before offering or renewing cover. Ask your insurer what the report needs to include and share those requirements with Dave before booking.
How much does an insurance survey cost?
Pricing depends on the boat’s type, size, location and required inspection scope. Send us your vessel details and insurer requirements for a clear quote before booking.
What does an insurance survey include?
Depending on the agreed scope, the inspection may cover the hull, structure, accessible onboard systems and safety equipment. You’ll receive a written report with findings and recommendations. Inclusions and limitations are confirmed when quoting.
Will my insurer accept the report?
Check your insurer’s survey requirements and any surveyor eligibility criteria before booking. Share these with Dave so he can confirm whether he can provide the survey required. Report acceptance and insurance cover remain the insurer’s decision.
Does my boat need to come out of the water?
This depends on your vessel and the required survey scope. If your insurer requires underwater areas to be inspected, a haul out may be needed. We’ll discuss this before booking.
Can I use a recent pre purchase survey?
Check with your insurer before arranging another survey. They’ll confirm whether your existing report meets their requirements based on its age, scope and the surveyor who completed it.
Which areas do you service?
We service Brisbane, including Manly Boat Harbour, the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and surrounding South East Queensland locations. Contact us to confirm availability at your boat’s location.
When will I receive my report?
We’ll confirm the expected report timeframe when booking. Let us know your insurance deadline when requesting a quote so we can discuss availability.
